Mid-West Terrier Racing Club

Welcome

The Mid-West Terrier Racing Club is a new club originating in Michigan. Currently we are looking for members and putting together FUN DAYS until we can get our UKC affiliation and start doing sanctioned, pointed races.

The club got it's start due to very limited racing opportunities here in Michigan. Several Jack Russell Terrier owners as well as a few Rat Terrier owners decided to get together and try to start a racing club so that we could run our dogs more then just once a year. We are looking forward to growing and being able to offer many more racing opportunities throughout the year not only here in Michigan but also in the surrounding states.

Tragity Strikes the Terrier World

Today, March 17, 2008, is a very sad day as MWTRC learned of the tragic loss of a well known and respected terrier lady Bonnie Turner. Her and her husband Mike Turner headed up the UKC Premier Terrier Races in Kalamazoo, MI for the last several years. Mike was a UKC racing judge and often helped out with loading dogs during UKC races where he didn't need to judge. Bothe Bonnie and Mike would help anyone who needed it and loved their dogs wholeheartedly.

On Saturday, March 15, 2008, a tornado ripped through their place in GA. It leveled the house and destroyed their kennel. Bonnie was killed during the storm and Mike is now in critical condition awaiting surgery for his injuries. Many of their dogs were lost as well. There have been reports of several surviving dogs in the local shelter and a couple in veterinary care where their injuries are being treated. There are still many animals unaccounted for.

Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers!
